Rainy days can feel gloomy and discouraging at times, and during quarantine the cloudy days can seem to drag on forever. However, there are ways to entertain yourself and your family during a rainy, quarantined day! Read a book, organize your room, or do any of the other things in this wonderful list below!

  1. Have a game session! Gather family members around the table to play Uno, Poker, or my personal favorite, 5 Crowns! Eat some snacks, play some games, and enjoy the company of your loved ones. If you’ve got a busy family, consider playing online with a group of friends. iMessage has some wonderful gaming systems where you can play all sorts of card games, and sites like Tabletopia have tons more! Start up a call and search up online board games. There is a wonderful Uno Chrome extension, and you can find almost any game by searching up an online version of it.
  2. Reorganize your desk! As many of us are practicing distance learning, our workspaces can get crowded and messy. Since we’ll be spending a ton of time at our desks, it’s important to clean and organize them as well. Spend a stormy afternoon labeling your notebooks, organizing your drawers, or even decorating your desk with fun, unique knick knacks.
  3.  Cook a family meal! Parents are definitely taking on a rather large workload, especially when it comes to household tasks like cooking. That being said, when you’re bored and there’s nothing else to do, it’s fun and helpful to cook a meal for your family. Here’s a quick Food Network list for 50+ easy family meals, so get cooking! Your parents will thank you for it.
  4. Create a toy for your pet! Pets are just as bored as we are during rainy days, so you should take the opportunity to spend quality time with your four-footed companion. With just some fabric scraps and sticks, it’s easy to make a fun, engaging toy to use with your pet. Here’s a good website with 5 creative pet toy ideas that can be easily made with household items.
  5. Take a rainy day stroll! While the rain may prohibit us from straying too far from home, a quick backyard stroll is just the thing to observe the changing weather. Snails and worms come out to bask in the downpour, plants soak in the waterlogged ground, and the smell of damp soil is absolutely wonderful. Bring an umbrella, and soak it all in! (Pun intended!)
