Q: What school did you come from, and why did you pick Head-Royce?
A: “I was teaching prior to Head-Royce at Lick-Wilmerding. I taught there for 8 years. I picked Head-Royce for a couple of reasons. One is the six-minute drive from my house, and two is that before I taught at Lick-Wilmerding and Head-Royce, I didn’t know anything about Independent Schools, but I had a friend who sent her kids here. That was my first introduction into Independent Schools, and I was like, ‘Wow, this seems like a really great place!’ And that was the beginning of it all.”
Q: Where did you go to college, and what did you major in?
A: “For undergrad, I went to UC Berkeley, and I majored in English. I was told during orientation to major in whatever you felt you were good at, and I was like… I’m good at English, so that’s what I did.”
Q: What is your favorite part about being a teacher?
A: “Honestly, the students. I feel like it keeps me young, and I feel like you all say really, really funny things, and I can’t always laugh at them, but I definitely take it home and laugh about it and tell my friends. I love seeing what understanding looks like on the face of someone who didn’t get it at first.”
