Whether it’s on Lincoln or on the School campus, you can find Leah Fahey always working to keep the School safe. Fahey, the School’s Assistant Security Supervisor, is a part of the seven-officer security team stationed throughout the School and the surrounding neighborhood. Though small, this squad keeps the community safe, all with the motto of “Strength in Numbers”.

Fahey starts her day by waking up. Upon arriving to School, she grabs her radio. She then checks in with Security Supervisor Rhonda Gipson. In this check-in, Gipson gives Fahey a rundown about any planned events for the day or any prior security-related events that happened. Fahey then checks her email briefly before starting her patrol.

Fahey’s patrol is across the entire School; this includes walking around the campus and the Greek Orthodox parking lot. During her walk, she “put[s] one earbud in to listen to music occasionally. One of my go to songs at the moment is Sza-Snooze.” A top-tier song for her patrol.

After her patrol, Fahey works traffic duty and can usually be found at the top of F Lot. Once traffic dies down, Fahey and the swing shift officer alternate taking over the reception desk after traffic. “We switch off every hour,” Fahey adds. “One of us patrols for an hour while the other sits at the desk observing the security cameras and checking in guests who arrive.”

In her free time, you can find Fahey either hanging out with family or by the water. She also enjoys watching basketball, though her team is quite the opposite of the Warriors: the Lakers. And her current favorite player is“Lebron, though all-time gotta be Kobe Bryant.”

Overall, Fahey states that her experience at the School has “been pretty smooth. It’s a pretty safe school.” She concluded by stating that the security team is a really good squad.

If you see one of the security team members, be sure to say a warm hello or goodbye. As Fahey notes, “We genuinely care about the students and the School.”

Fahey adds, “Patrols are conducted at random times and patterns so that loiters or anyone trying to engage in suspicious activity never know when security will be present, making the location less likely to be victimized.”

And to further ensure the safety of the School, there are security cameras all across campus to monitor School activity. How many security cameras? “Tons of them,” Fahey replied. Every school year, they keep on adding more and implementing new safety measures, ensuring that the School and its students remain safe.

If you’re ever walking up to the Greek or crossing the streets, be sure to greet and thank Fahey and the security team. They truly are the ones that keep our community safe and sound.
