Harmony Ausiello

AP Physics C, Algebra 2

Harmony Ausiello is the new AP Physics C and Algebra 2 teacher. She loves teaching physics because “it’s basically like teaching magic at Hogwarts.” She also enjoys building curriculum and finding ways to explain complex ideas. In her free time, Ausiello is passionate about weightlifting, spending time with her dog, reading, and relaxing. She recently joined an MMA gym where she practices muay thai and jiu jitsu.

Nikkia Young

Upper School Counselor

Nikkia Young is the new upper school counselor. She loves watching students develop the confidence to handle their problems, but claims the most painful part of her job is “not being able to fix everything.” In her free time, Young listens to audiobooks, spends time with friends, and writes. She also enjoys dancing Cuban salsa, cycling, long walks, and swimming in the Bay. “I’m excited to get to know a new community,” she says.

Russell Champa

Technical Theater, 3D Art

Russell Champa is excited to teach technical theater and 3D studio art at the School. After 40 years of lighting design and production, he decided to share his knowledge. Although this is Champa’s first time teaching, he enjoys interacting with students and finding ways to keep them engaged. He is passionate about road biking, surfing, and hiking. Champa is also an avid soccer fan of both Chelsea and the New York Redbulls.

Dylan Thiermann

Precalculus

Dylan Thiermann is the School’s new precalculus teacher. He has never taught before, and he enjoys when students discuss problems together. His least favorite part of teaching is administering and grading tests, although he wants students to know he is generous with grading. Thiermann is passionate about basketball, ultimate frisbee, tennis, squash and ping-pong. He also says, “I love eating food.”

Juan Fuentes

Algebra 2 Honors, Geometry Honors

Juan Fuentes is a new Algebra 2 Honors and Geometry Honors teacher at the School. “I think algebra is the gateway to all mathematics, and geometry is just cool,” he explains. He loves when students understand new concepts and ask deep questions, and he dislikes grading. “I am excited about convincing students that math is hella fun!” he says. In his free time, Fuentes volunteers, boxes, and wants to learn to dance. 

Megan Leppla

2D Art

Megan Leppla is the newest addition to the School’s 2D art program. They are interested in creating art installations on campus to explore the intersections of 2D and 3D art. Leppla is excited to meet new artists and help experienced students develop their skills. “I want my students to know I care about them,” Leppla added. In their free time, Leppla enjoys surfing, cooking, spending time outdoors, and playing with their dog and cats.
