Ever since Taylor Swift was spotted at a Kansas City Chiefs game in late September, fans have been clamoring for the latest news when it comes to Swift and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The two sparked dating rumors in early September when Kelce first mentioned Swift on his podcast, New Heights. By the end of the month, many fans were quick to support the couple, while others were convinced it was simply a publicity stunt.

Fans weren’t the only ones excited by the relationship; the media quickly latched on and haven’t let go since. After Swift’s first appearance at a Chiefs game in September, female viewership of the National Football League (NFL) spiked. Not only that but on October 10th, NBC and Peacock averaged 27 million viewers with Swift at the Chiefs game, becoming the most-watched Sunday program since the Super Bowl. On top of that, Kelce has become the third most searched public figure in the US, behind only Beyonce and Swift herself.

With the amount of media attention the relationship has received, fans of Swift and Kelce have reacted on social media. While many fans are loving the couple, with some going as far as to call them their “Roman empire,” or comparing them to David and Victoria Beckham, others are skeptical and some are even upset at the prospect of the two being together.

Many of these fans are not opposed to the couple, but more so opposed to the spotlight they’ve been given, especially when it comes to the NFL. With Swift attending games, the NFL has made a point to highlight her presence with cameras panning to her for reactions and graphics being made using her presence as a comparison statistic. Non-swiftie football fans have been quick to complain about the NFL’s overload of Taylor Swift content, saying that the league’s focus should be on football and not the celebrities attending games.

Swifties, on the other hand, have loved all of the coverage their favorite artist has been getting. With Swift having been notoriously private about her previous relationship, fans are clamoring for the chance to see her out and about with Kelce and friends, happy that she’s doing well and able to be public with her relationship, with some claiming she’s back in her “1989” era. Following her performance in front of Kelce in Buenos Aires, Argentina, fans are excited to call Kelce not just “the guy on the Chiefs,” but her “Endgame.”

While Swift and Kelce’s relationship has sparked lots of media coverage and mixed reviews from different fans, the relationship has also come with plenty of benefits for each party, including the NFL. Due to Swift attending more Chiefs games, many Swifties have begun to tune in to football games in hopes of seeing Swift on their screens. On top of that, Kelce has become the most searched athlete, with his brother coming in right behind him. NFL viewership has gone up significantly since relationship rumors started in early September, and Swift has also gained fans from an entirely new demographic: football. Whether it’s a PR stunt or a genuine relationship, we’ll be sure to be kept updated by the media, paparazzi, and swifties alike.
