The Student Council (StuCo) members for the 2023-2024 school year have recently been announced. Although many people are already familiar with them, these profiles will help you get to know them a little bit better. The All-School StuCo members include Alex Bruneau and Richie Jones as co-presidents, Sara Khalil as Communications Director, and Eleanore Friedman and Kate Conner as Spirit Captains.

The junior grade-level representatives will be Lucy Henrich and Morgan Ross, and sophomore grade-level representatives will be Abigail Kim and Ryan Lo. These four will work on coordinating grade-level bonding events and support the rest of StuCo.

Richie Jones and Alex Bruneau are rising seniors. They have been friends for multiple years and appear to be very ready to lead this team. Bruneau says that he’s “really excited to work with Richie. We’ve been friends for a really long time, and we work great together.”

They plan to continue the things that have gone well, but also modify them to be even more enjoyable. For example, they hope to offer new activities for Intersession and hold different lunchtime tournaments like ping-pong, kickball, and chess.

Khalil joined StuCo because she believes that, for as long as she has been at Head-Royce, she hasn’t “done much for the community. [She] always talked about ways we as a school could improve, and now [she has] an opportunity to be more involved and… help as much as possible.” More specifically, she plans on working hard to make sure the School’s communications are more accurate and timely. She says, “I have learned to keep up with Head-Royce. I am very punctual with emails– very quick to reach out, whether that’s teachers or classmates, I just find myself very quick to respond and effectively just communicate and plan.” Additionally, she hopes to help maintain Head Royce’s good reputation.

Friedman and Conner plan to create spirit days based on student input as a way to cultivate school spirit. They also intend on introducing “spirit week spotlights” during assembly and giving prizes to people with the best school spirit.

The elections for all-school treasurer and senior grade reps will occur in mid-May, as those positions have not yet been filled. As of now, it seems like the community will be entering the 2023-2024 school year with a strong team eager to lead the student body.
